Insurance/InsurTech Capital Raises in the U.S. – August 12th-18th, 2024
The Insurance/InsurTech sector has seen significant activity this past week, with several companies securing substantial funding to drive innovation.

Here are the capital raises:
Later Stage VC
  1. Companion Protect, based in Leawood, Kansas, raised $47.5 million in later-stage VC funding to enhance its pet insurance solutions. (Lead Investors: Avanta Ventures, Liberty Mutual Insurance)
  2. EvolutionIQ, located in New York, New York, secured $20.15 million in later-stage VC funding to advance its AI-powered insurance claims management platform.
Seed Round
  1. Optifino, based in New York, New York, raised $6.3 million in seed funding to develop its insurance technology platform. (Lead Investors: 8VC, HOF Capital, MS&AD Insurance Group)
Early Stage VC
  1. QuickFacts, from Bedford, Nova Scotia, raised $2 million in early-stage VC funding to grow its InsurTech data platform. (Lead Investor: Sandpiper Ventures)
Merger/Acquisition
  1. Dunhill Marketing & Insurance Services, based in San Diego, California, was acquired by Alkeme Insurance through an LBO
  2. Mainsail Insurance Solutions, located in Tarpon Springs, Florida, was acquired by Emerald Bay Risk Solutions through an LBO
  3. Asset Insurance Agency, from Peabody, Massachusetts, was acquired by PCF Insurance Services of the West through an LBO
  4. Metzger Platinum Insurance, based in Royston, Georgia, was acquired by InsuranceHub.
  5. Americanized Property & Casualty, from Houston, Texas, was acquired by Leavitt Group.

Former Head of Corporate Finance M&A Americas for the Royal Bank of Scotland and ABN AMRO Bank, based in New York. Began his career at ABN AMRO Bank in Japan, and subsequently in The Netherlands in the Corporate Finance department. Was seconded to New York in 2006 to co-establish the ABN AMRO North America Corporate Finance M&A department and grew it by advising medium and large companies on domestic and cross-border mergers, acquisitions, capital raisings and capital structurings. Led the management buyout of RBS Bank Mexico and RBS Broker-Dealer Mexico in 2014 and spearheaded the subsequent growth of the bank as Head of Investment Banking & Corporate Development. During his tenure he supported companies with capital and financing solutions with a focus on companies in the US and Mexican energy infrastructure sector and fintech sector. Holds a master’s degree in economics from Groningen University, The Netherlands. Holds FINRA Series 7 and 63 licenses.
