Overview

Autism First is seeking $18 million to develop its Fairfax and Loudoun clinics, create the Academy/Day School, build out its relational care model offering mental health and counseling services for family/caregiver support system, and for additional autism treatment center acquisitions and working capital


Autism First currently operates from its Fairfax clinic in Herndon, VA, providing ABA, speech, and occupational therapies to autistic individuals with a staff of 4 BCBAs, 16 RBTs, and two clinical directors.  Active patient list of 34 individuals with continued growth weekly of new patient intakes and new patient inquiry requests


The Loudoun facility in Chantilly, VA will be its second location – will allow Autism First to continue to meet growing demand for therapy and treatment in the Virginia area


Plan to develop and/or acquire complementary technologies to improve access to care, drive improved outcomes and/or allow parents/caregivers to continue treatment at home to the autistic individual


Additional capital will allow Autism First to find and retain additional ABA staff and build out multi-disciplinary talent. (i.e., therapy and counseling services)

According to the CDC, the incident rate of Autism has grown from 1 in 150 children in 2000 to 1 in 44 children in 2018


The growing rate of autism has accelerated demand for Autism therapy clinics


According to the Autism Investor Summit, the ABA market is growing at twice the rateof other multi-site healthcare businesses


The demand for ABA therapy is driving demand for Board Certified BCBAs – Burning Glass Technologies (now Lyghtcast) found that from 2010 through 2021, BCBA certification increased 5,852%

Patient and Family Advocates

Advocating for the patient and the patient’s family to provide education around insurance programs as well as social and social welfare programs. Helps families better understand their insurance solutions. Work with insurance providers to streamline the process so that the recently diagnosed individual can quickly obtain an assessment and begin a treatment program.  This helps to make the process from diagnosis to treatment easy for all parties


Family Support

Providing support to patient’s siblings, parents, and caregivers through one-on-one and group counseling programs


Day Schools

Placed trained therapists in the classroom with the child to provide continued care during the school day

Doug Ackley

Chief Executive Officer

Serves as the Chief Executive Officer for Autism F.I.R.S.T., responsible for driving the organization’s mission and vision


Over 20 years experience as a P&L owner, product leader and management consultant with a track record of identifying operating efficiencies and driving growth initiatives to address unmet needs in the market


Recently served as the Head of Product at DeVry University, a middle market company ($100-$500M in annual revenue), responsible for creating a product department and developing a new B2B product offering. Prior to that, he managed a $100M technology-enabled, recurring revenue business line at Gartner (~$4B annual revenue, global organization)

Jeff Shiring

Founder & Managing Partner

30 years of executive experience implementing successful roll-up and turnaround strategies in numerous industries including equipment rentals, waste management, and health care for both public companies and private equity groups


Served in a financial leadership role within the Hertz Equipment Rental Corporation where he oversaw $500 million of revenue and $1 billion in fleet. Currently serves as the Chairman of the Board for the Power Group and Impact Wrap


Served as the Chairman of Insight Eyecare (“Triangle Visions”), Whitecap’s first investment, creating a very special brand focused on a patient-centric care model in a retail driven industry. Francesca Nasi

Chief Clinical Officer

Serves as the Chief Clinical Officer with responsibilities that include Clinical Operations, Events and Educational Opportunities, and Business Development


The first provider to expand to the European market providing a complete and global care approach.  She has also worked in Paris, France to establish the first ABA clinic for children and adults by collaborating with Dr. Troy Fry the author of the Essentials for Living: A comprehensive life skills curriculum with social validity, evidence-based teaching and measurement strategies, that result in the dignity and quality of life all individuals deserve


CEO and co-founder of Reach Aut, SRL., the only Tricare provider in Italy to offer a multidisciplinary relational approach to treatment for all military families.  The three clinics (Aviano, Vicenza and Naples) are within walking distance from each base providing a variety of services that include: Psychology, Applied Behavior Analysis, Occupational Therapy, Speech and Language Pathology, Physical Therapy and Psychiatry, Reach Aut can provide a global approach to care for all families of the Department of Defense that live abroad
