Top 10 Clean Energy Capital Raises in the U.S. – July 25-31, 2024

The Clean Energy sector has seen significant activity this past week, with several companies securing substantial funding to drive innovation.

Here are the top 10 most interesting capital raises:

Merger/Acquisition and Corporate

1.   Custom Ag Formulators, specializing in tailored agricultural formulations, was acquired by Israel Chemicals for $60 million to enhance sustainable agricultural solutions. The company is based in Fresno, California.

2.   Évolys Quebec, a renewable metallurgical biocarbon manufacturer, formed a joint venture with Aymium and Rio Tinto to expand its renewable energy solutions. Based in Thurso, Quebec, Canada.

Later Stage VC

3.   unspun, an operator of a digital apparel company focusing on sustainable fashion, raised $32 million in Series B funding to scale its sustainable production efforts. (Lead Investor: DCVC). The company is located in Emeryville, California.

4.   Pajarito Powder, a manufacturer of advanced catalysts for clean hydrogen production based in Albuquerque, New Mexico, raised $4.5 million to boost R&D and production capabilities. (New Investor: Ecovyst).

Early Stage VC

5.   AeroShield, a developer of transparent insulating materials for energy efficiency, raised $5 million to enhance production capabilities. The company is based in Waltham, Massachusetts. (New Investor: MassMutual Ventures).

6.   OnSight (Hardware), a developer of renewable energy hardware, raised an undisclosed amount in early-stage VC funding to accelerate product development and deployment. The company is located in Folsom, California. (New Investor: Convective Capital).

Seed Round and Angel

7.   Type One Energy Group, a manufacturer of fusion energy systems located in Oak Ridge, Tennessee,         raised $82.5 million in seed funding to advance its fusion technology and achieve commercialization.       (Lead Investors: Breakthrough Energy, Doral Energy-Tech Ventures).

8.   Matereal, a biobased polyurethane manufacturer based in Denver, Colorado, raised $4.5 million in seed funding to expand product lines and manufacturing. (Lead Investor: Collaborative Fund), achieving a post-valuation of $13.5 million.

9.   Livestock Water Recycling, a company focused on water efficiency in agriculture, received $500,000 in grant funding to advance its innovative recycling solutions. The company is based in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. (New Investor: Alberta Innovates).

10.  Electra.aero, a hybrid-electric aircraft manufacturer in Manassas, Virginia, raised an undisclosed amount to advance electric aircraft technology. (New Investor: Honeywell).
