Top 10 EdTech Capital Raises in the U.S. – July 25-31, 2024

The EdTech sector has seen significant activity this past week, with several companies securing substantial funding to drive innovation.

Here are the top 10 capital raises:

Early Stage VC:

 

    1. Uplimit, a San Francisco-based company, raised $11 million to enhance its AI-driven educational platform that supports professional growth and career advancement in tech. (Lead Investor: Salesforce Ventures, Post Valuation: $56 million).
    2. Making Space, located in Los Angeles, secured $2 million in early-stage venture capital to expand its talent acquisition and learning platform tailored for the advertising sector. (Lead Investor: Beta Boom (Sergio Paluch)).

Later Stage VC:

 

    1. ByteXL, a Lewisville, Texas company, raised $5.9 million to further develop its educational software aimed at empowering students with coding skills. (Lead Investor: Kalaari Capital).

 

    1. Daivergent, based in New York, secured a significant later-stage VC round to enhance its online learning platform for neurodivergent individuals. (Lead Investor: WGU Labs).

Seed Round:

 

    1. Abroad, an Austin-based company, raised $750,000 in seed funding to advance its AI coaching platform that aids in professional development. (Lead Investor: 5D World (Canada), Post Valuation: $6.25 million).

 

    1. Fluently, based in Wilmington, Delaware, secured $2 million to expand its AI-driven communication application focused on language training and fluency. (Lead Investor: Decacorn Capital).

Merger/Acquisition:

 

    1. Smodin, an educational tech platform in Casper, Wyoming, was acquired to integrate its AI-powered research tools into a larger digital ecosystem.

 

    1. BirdBrain Technologies, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, was acquired, bringing its innovative educational robotics kits into broader markets.

 

    1. Cognitive ToyBox, a Brooklyn, New York company, was acquired by Teaching Strategies to expand its assessment tools for early childhood education, enhancing its footprint in the EdTech landscape.

PE Growth/Expansion:

 

    1. Skillr, a New York-based company, received a growth investment to further its one-on-one video chatting educational services, fostering peer learning and skills development. (Lead Investor: MEA Testing System).
