Top 10 Insurance/InsurTech Capital Raises in the U.S. – December 16th-31st, 2024

Merger/Acquisition and Corporate

    1. 2-10 Home Buyers Warranty, provider of a home warranty service designed to provide homeowners, builders, and realtors with peace of mind against unexpected repairs and replacements, acquired by Frontdoor for $585 million.
    2. Block Insurance, provider of insurance services catering to childcare centers, private schools, charter schools and martial arts studios throughout the United States, was acquired by Afore Insurance Services.
    3. Caldwell & Langford Insurance, operator of an insurance agency intended to serve individual and corporate clients, was acquired by PointeNorth Insurance Group.

Buyout/LBO

    1. Coe Agency, LLC, operator of independent insurance agency, was acquired by Inszone Insurance Services, via its financial sponsors Ares Capital, BHMS Investments,Ares Management and Lightyear Capital, through an LBO.
    2. Crum & Forster Holdings, provider of credit insurance services intended to serve banks, export credit agencies, global commodity firms, manufacturers, multinationals, and mortgage insurers, was acquired by The Amynta Group, via its financial sponsor Madison Dearborn Partners, through an LBO.
    3. Loft & Co, provider of insurance brokerage services intended to serve businesses and individuals, was acquired by Inszone Insurance Services, via its financial sponsors Lightyear Capital, BHMS Investments, Ares Management, and Ares Capital, through an LBO.

Later Stage VC

    1. PlanGap, provider of retirement insurance services intended to address retirement concerns related to social security benefits, raised $4.30 million of venture funding.
    2. Remodel Health, developer and provider of an online platform designed to offer employees of the organization’s health benefits, raised venture funding in a deal led by Oak HC/FT and Hercules Capital.

Early Stage VC 

    1. Stand, provider of homeowners insurance services intended to insure and fortify properties to be resilient to wildfire, raised $29.19 million through a combination of Series A venture funding in a deal led by Lowercarbon Capital and Inspired Capital.

Angel, Seed, and Grant

    1. StretchDollar, operator of a health benefits platform intended to help employees with their health insurance problems, raised $7.83 million of seed funding in a deal led by Oscar Health and Fika Ventures.

Began his career at ABN AMRO Bank in Japan, and subsequently in The Netherlands in the Corporate Finance department. Was seconded to New York in 2006 to co-establish the ABN AMRO North America Corporate Finance M&A department and grew it by advising medium and large companies on domestic and cross-border mergers, acquisitions, capital raisings and capital structurings. Led the management buyout of RBS Bank Mexico and RBS Broker-Dealer Mexico in 2014 and spearheaded the subsequent growth of the bank as Head of Investment Banking & Corporate Development. During his tenure he supported companies with capital and financing solutions with a focus on companies in the US and Mexican energy infrastructure sector and fintech sector. Holds a master’s degree in economics from Groningen University, The Netherlands. Holds FINRA Series 7 and 63 licenses.
